ROCK HILL -- Mr. Marshall Miller Brooks Sr., 92, of 441 Hope St., passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Park Point Village.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Northside Baptist Church, with Dr. Jerry Sosebee officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park -S. Cherry Road, with full military honors provided by The American Legion Honor Guard of Frank Roach Post 34.
A native of York County, Mr. Marshall was a son of the late William Walker and Carrie Ada Parrish Brooks. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Company, where he worked in the packing department for over 48 years. He served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific Theater during World War II and was a member of Frank Roach Post 34 of The American Legion in Rock Hill.
Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Maybelle Coker Brooks of the home; his son, Marshall Brooks Jr. and wife, Vicki, of Lake Wateree, S.C.; two daughters, Connie Brooks Corn of Lake Wateree and Faye Brooks Bechtler and husband, Alfred, of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren, Melia Faile and husband, Garry, Ray D. Corn Jr., and wife, Kimberly, Ms. Charlton Douglas, Todd Brooks and wife, Mary Ann, and Stacy B. Brunelle and husband, Chris; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
The family will receive friends at the home on Friday, July 11, 2008, beginning at 1 p.m.
