ST. SIMONS ISLAND -- Clarke Wardlaw Adickes II, 77, of St. Simons Island, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Adickes was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served as an officer for the U.S. Army. He retired from Standard Life and Casualty Company, Rock Hill, S.C. as the Secretary/Treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henning F. Adickes and brothers, Fred Adickes and Al Adickes.
Survivors include his wife, Sheron Adickes; daughter, Jeannie McElveen of Centreville, Va.; sons, Clarke Adickes Jr. of Richmond, Va., George Adickes of York, S.C. and Graylon Williams of Gainesville, Ga.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Simons Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Fred Adickes Jr., Jeff Adickes Sr., Tommy Adickes, Barry Adickes, Paul Field and Wade Comer.
