GASTONIA, N.C. -- Mr. Jack Wallace Grier Sr., 77, of Gastonia, passed away July 23, 2008, at Robin Johnson Hospice House, Dallas, N.C.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Pisgah ARP Church, 3600 Linwood Road, Gastonia, with the Revs. Richard Lewis and Charles B. Evans officiating.
Mr. Grier was the son of the late Julius and Elizabeth Crawford Grier. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Grier was a retired machinist and owner of a family real estate business. He was a member of Pisgah ARP Church, and for many years was a member of Crowders Creek ARP Church where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Dawson Grier; niece, Janice L. Grier; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred H. and Evelyn McAllister Huffstetler.

Mr. Grier is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joann Huffstetler Grier; son and daughter-in-law, Jack W. Jr. and Margaret Grier of Clover; his grandson, Will Grier; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty Grier Robinson and T.E. Robinson of Durham, N.C.; a special cousin, Julia Smith McDuffie and her husband, Henry of Lumberton, N.C.; and five nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Charles Meakin and Hospice of Gaston County staff and nurses for their support and dignity shown toward the family during his battle with cancer.
Visitation and reception will follow the service at Pisgah ARP Church and other times at the home of Jack Grier Jr., 12354 W. Hwy. 55, Clover, S.C.
