CLOVER -- Mr. Donald Lee Neil, 77, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at his home.
A service to celebrate Don's life will be 3 p.m., Sunday, July 27, at First United Methodist Church, 124 Bethel St., Clover, with the Rev. Michael Walker officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.
Don was born in York, May 2, 1931, one of five children of the late Samuel Leslie and Bertha Elliott Neil. Over the years he was involved in his church community and served on many committees. He also taught Sunday School for years. Don served 11 years in the Army National Guard. Don retired from Gray and Daniel Company in Gastonia, N.C., and R.S.M. Co. of Charlotte, N.C., after 21 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis Eugene Neil and Samuel Howard Neil.

Mr. Neil was a strong leader of his family, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Mr. Neil is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Sara Turner Neil of Clover; four children, James Terry Neil and his wife, Lucy of Marietta, Ga., Donna Neil Hellams and her husband, Roger of Walhalla, S.C., Sandra Neil of Clover and Marcy Neil Burgess and her husband, Gerald of Belmont, N.C.; grandchildren, Eric "Bo" Karow and wife, Kelly, Amber Hellams Nelson and husband, James, Jamie Hellams, Christopher and Ashley Neil, Zachery, Cody and Matthew Burgess; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kaleb Nelson and Ensley Karow; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip Quinn and Kate Neil of York, Brooks Edward and Sondra Neil of Antioch, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Neil of York; brother-in-law, Allen Boyd; and sisters-in-law, Rachel Boyd and Martha McCarter; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, July 26, at First United Methodist Church, Clover.
