The Panthers are quickly running out of bodies, but they've apparently settled on a rotation for this week.
Backup Dan Connor said the plan as he understands it is for him to play SLB if Na'il Diggs can't, and for James Anderson to play WLB, the old Thomas Davis-then-Landon Johnson spot.
It's not ideal, but it's the best they can cobble together at the moment.
"We're starting to get a little thin," coach John Fox said in the understatement of the day.
Diggs said this rib injury isn't nearly as bad as the previous one this year, which cost him the Dallas game, and that he remains "optimistic" about playing this week.
At the same time, he was asked if Wednesday's day off from practice was for rest or a needed day, and he said: "A little of both."
-- Diggs was held out of practice, along with DE Charles Johnson (pectoral) and RB Jonathan Stewart (Wednesday).
Johnson's already said he's not playing this week, while Stewart's getting his normal rest.
DT Damione Lewis (shoulder) was listed as limited Wednesday, while DE Julius Peppers (hand), FB Brad Hoover (ankle) and FS Charles Godfrey (ankle) practiced fully.
