Panthers owner Jerry Richardson dropped by training camp Monday morning, and spoke to the team for a little more than 5 minutes before practice began.
Richardson, still recovering from heart transplant surgery, caught a ride to Wofford with former Panthers DE Mike Rucker, who rode around practice with him on his private golf cart.
Richardson's lost about 45 pounds since his surgery, and looks more like a wide receiver than a tight end these days. But players and coaches got a lift from seeing him, with many hugs and handshakes in the aftermath of his impromptu talk.
In other news after the day off:
-- Still no LB Jon Beason, LB Thomas Davis, RB DeAngelo Williams or S Nate Salley in practice.
And when they went live to run goal-line drills, they held out RB Jonathan Stewart (team decision). That gave more work to RB Mike Goodson, who has looked good despite not being cut out for such work.
Never miss a local story.
