Apparently, the Rhys Lloyd workout was sufficient.
The Panthers are poised to sign their former kickoff specialist again, according to his agent, Frank Murtha.
"Sounds like the workout went well," Murtha said. "They're planning on signing him, and something should be done this afternoon."
That's bad news for rookie Todd Carter, whose tight back allowed him only one poor attempt in his NFL debut. (Update 12:17 p.m.) Carter was waived-injured to make room for Lloyd.
The Panthers can't afford to use K John Kasay or P Jason Baker on kickoffs, as neither has shown any aptitude for it.
Lloyd didn't have a great preseason with Minnesota, with just two touchbacks, both coming in the last game.
