A television show will feature South Carolina’s Palmetto Priority Schools project, an effort to boost achievement in 16 high-poverty schools.
The half-hour program, “In Our Schools,” will air on SCETV at 5:30 p.m. March 1.
S.C. schools Superintendent Jim Rex is said to have launched Palmetto Priority so the state wouldn’t have to take over underperforming schools.
Rex charged school boards and educators, parents and community partners to work together to meet “the challenge of building high-quality schools in high-poverty areas.”
He called it “preventive medicine.”
“In Our Schools” is produced by ITV, a part of the Education Department, ETV assistance.
The 16 Palmetto Priority Schools are
Jasper County: Ridgeland Middle School
Lee County: Mt. Pleasant Middle School
Spartanburg District Seven: Whitlock Junior High School
