Local culinary students to compete in Charleston
Two culinary students at the Applied Technology Center in Rock Hill will compete in the fourth annual Sustainable Seafood Festival Sunday at the Charleston Maritime Center in Charleston.
Rock Hill High School seniors Chelsea Gantt and Eddie Windham were selected to participate in the finals. They will join three other seniors and five juniors from around the state in the contest.
The contest is open to all South Carolina high school juniors and seniors who created their own original recipe using a local sustainable seafood item from a list that was provided. Gas stove burners and ingredients will be provided for the contestants.
The students will compete for scholarships of $1,000 to $3,000 to Johnson & Wales University.
The top three seniors and top three juniors will receive the scholarships, which are renewable for fours years.
