Economic forecast breakfast Sept. 12
Mark Vitner, economist and vice president with Wachovia Bank, will speak at an economic forecast breakfast Sept. 12 at the Palmetto Room, 135 E. Main St.
The breakfast will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and is sponsored by Wachovia and Winthrop University's College of Business Administration.

Company sponsors back-to-school event
Assure Insurance will host a free back-to-school event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Cherry Park.
The event will include ice cream cups from Little Café and Moonwalks from Bump and Jump. About 150 bags of school supplies and two bikes will be given away, as well as one-year personal training from Xcel Xpress.
Assure Insurance has offices in Monroe and Charlotte in North Carolina, Lancaster and Rock Hill. The company plans to open an office soon in Columbia.
ShipOnSite plans to open York location
YORK -- ShipOnSite announced plans to open a location Friday in York, according to a statement from the Wake Forest, N.C.-based company.
The business will be at 1420 Alexander Love Highway and will help customers sell items on Ebay. Store owner Darryl Cook will photograph the items, list and ship them for one-third of the selling price. The business also will offer traditional packaging and shipping services.
The company also is increasing its OfficeOnSite program, which enables small businesses and individuals to get help with design and printing needs as well as personalize items, order wedding invitations and have access to an Internet desk and conference room rental.

Krispy Kreme realigns operations; exec leaves
CHARLOTTE -- Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shuffled executive slots and said Friday it would realign its franchise and company store operations, a move that should help the embattled doughnut maker improve sales and cut costs.
Executive Vice President of Operations Jeff Jervik will leave the company, effective Sept. 1.
Jeff Welch will become senior vice president and general manager of global franchise operations and development. Welch, who has more than 25 years' experience, helped lead Krispy Kreme's international franchise expansion in 10 countries.
Steve Lineberger will become senior vice president and general manager of U.S. company operations. Lineberger has been heading the company's growth initiative, including new product development and innovation.
