YouLead applications available to sophomores
Applications for the 2008-2009 Youth Leadership York County program are available to sophomores at any York County high school.
The free youth leadership program, a joint effort of the chambers of commerce of York County, is an eight-month experience for students at both public and private schools in the community. YouLead participants will meet local and state government officials, tour area businesses with local industry leaders, volunteer with York County service agencies and gain a greater understanding of the community.
Through the program, the local chambers hope to not only enhance leadership skills, but also to encourage the students to further their education after high school and to then apply their own life experiences as they live, work and become active members of York County.
High school students who are rising juniors in Clover, Fort Mill, Rock Hill or York school districts, Trinity Christian or Westminster Catawba Christian schools may apply for the program. Applications are available online at www.yorkcountychamber. com and at www.myspace.com/ youleadyork. Students also can download applications and brochures from the Youth Leadership York County Facebook Web page.
Completed applications must be submitted to the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce no later than March 15. Finalists will be invited to participate in an interview process and all applicants will be notified of their status by May 1.
For more information about YouLead, contact the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce at (803) 324-7500 or e-mail cdaly@ yorkcountychamber.com.
