O’Darby’s Fine Wine & Spirits of Rock Hill is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
The store opened in 2004 with two owner-partners and has expanded to three locations, four owner-partners, and numerous employees.
Doug Hinson, company president, said their success is because they “aggressively work toward high goals, striving for excellent customer service, and staying involved in the community’s business culture.”
The company’s leadership is Hinson, Tim Molony, Jim Barrett, and Michael (Moe) Hinson.
Hinson and Molony opened the first store on Riverchase Boulevard. Three years later, Barrett joined Hinson to open the company’s Galleria Boulevard location. In 2009, a third store in the Newport community was added with Hinson and son, Moe, and Molony at the helm.
This year, the Newport store relocated to a larger facility on Heckle Boulevard.
Currently, the company has more than 13,000 square feet of retail space and employs 16.
In 2012, O’Darby’s added craft beers to its lineup at their Riverchase and Heckle boulevard stores.
“Our craft beer addition took considerable effort because it required additional space and equipment, not to mention adhering to state laws regarding retail alcohol sales which does not permit beer to be sold in liquor stores. This meant that we had to open separate wine and beer ‘party shops’ within our facilities,” Hinson said.
In 2011, O’Darby’s achieved national recognition when it was named Brown-Forman Retailer of the Year. Brown-Forman is one of the largest national wine and spirits distributors.
O’Darby’s will celebrate its 10-year anniversary on Saturday when all three stores will offer “Customer Appreciation” events.
