A Chester man was arrested this week after he allegedly broke into a Fort Lawn woman’s home and raped her, authorities said today.
The man knew the victim, they said.
Shortly after noon Monday, 36-year-old James Shackelford II of 2437 Knox Station Road went into the Fort Lawn home without permission, grabbed a woman and dragged her to a back bedroom where he sexually assaulted her, according to a news release from the Fort Lawn Police Department.
The woman was was able to escape and call 911, the release stated.
Shackelford was arrested shortly afterwards on Knox Station Road by Chester County Sheriff’s deputies, said Fort Lawn Police Chief Richard Smith.
The woman was taken to Springs Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.
Shackelford has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and and first-degree burglary, according to the release.
