The mother of 12-year-old Chester County boy who was hit and killed by avehicle as he skateboarded home from a convenience store last week wasarrested today on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor,authorities said.
Tammy Shackelford of 2437 Knox Station Road, Richburg, was booked at theChester County Detention Center shortly before 11:30 a.m. on three counts ofcontributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to jail officials.
Investigators believe her son, Levi James Shackelford, was headed home April2 after getting a snack when he was struck around 2:15 a.m. on a four-lanestretch of S.C. 9. Levi was the third child killed in a car accident withina week in Chester County, joining a 9-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy whodied on the same road March 26.
The accidents happened about four miles apart.

After the Levi’s death, investigators said they wanted to know why he andtwo friends were left unsupervised overnight. They said no adults were atthe home when a deputy visited after the accident.
Investigators decided to wait until after Levi’s funeral to talk to hismother.
