FORT MILL — The Fort Mill School District announced Treva Hamlin of Fort Mill Middle School as district 2005-06 Teacher of the Year this morning. Hamlin, 42, has worked at Fort Mill Middle for 18 years and teachers sixth grade language arts.
“I am just on top of the mountain of my teaching career,” Hamlin said after being awarded her engraved glass trophy. Hamlin also received $1,500 from the district and South Carolina Bank and Trust.
The district also announced Barbara Butts, secretary to the principal at Fort Mill High School, as district Support Staff Employee of the Year. Both Hamlin and Butts received standing ovations from the audience of district employees gathered in the Fort Mill High School auditorium.
