It was Chester that tried to shift its observance of Halloween to avoid a conflict with Wednesday evening church services.
It was Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul who spoke to a raucous crowd of 600 people at The Freedom Center in Rock Hill.
It was actress Julia Stiles who spent time in Rock Hill filming the movie "Gospel Hill."
The results are in for The Herald's 2007 local news quiz, and Merri Clinton of Rock Hill claimed first place in the contest with a perfect score on the 25-question quiz.
Clinton, 35, a supervisor at Comporium, gets a $50 Target gift card.
"About half the questions I just knew from reading the paper and watching the news," Clinton said Friday. "The other half was luck and the computer (archives)."
Clinton was one of nine people who notched a perfect score on the quiz, meaning first, second- and third-place prizes were determined by a random drawing from among those people.
The Herald received nearly 80 entries for the quiz, which appeared Dec. 30.
The winner of the second-place prize, $30 in movie passes, was Sharon Stowe of Edgemoor.
The third-place winner was Kay Mayer of Rock Hill, who will get a $25 Best Buy gift card.
Because of a technical glitch that omitted online responses to questions 22, 23 or 24 on some entries, all respondents were given credit for those answers.
