FORT MILL -- A 49-year-old Fort Mill man was in custody Saturday after authorities said he tried to use a sword to attack his wife.
John Bradford Lesley of 1043 J.W. Wilson Road faces several charges, including criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature; assault and battery with intent to kill and resisting arrest, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.
Around 11 p.m. Friday, police responded to a 911 call at the home, where a woman said her husband was trying to attack her with a knife, according to a report from the Sheriff's Office.
The woman said Lesley had been drinking alcohol, fallen asleep, woken up and threatened her, the report states. He grabbed the sword and chased the woman, who barricaded herself in a bedroom with her stepson, his girlfriend and two small children, according to the report.

The girlfriend and children escaped through a window while the stepson held the door, the report states. Then, Lesley thrust the sword through the door at the stepson, and the two fought briefly when Lesley was able to temporarily get in the room, according to the report.
Authorities found Lesley, who briefly resisted arrest, sitting in a chair in a bedroom on the opposite side of the trailer. They also found a sword lying near him, the report states.
A judge on Saturday denied bond on each charge, and Lesley remained in custody at the York County Detention Center.
