Mobile food bank visits Rock Hill today
Elderly people can enjoy the fruits of a mobile food bank today in Rock Hill.
A new pantry truck will park outside the restored Highland Park Mill on Standard Street. It'll be loaded with food to serve between 150 and 200 seniors starting at 10 a.m.
US Airways donated the truck to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, which serves York County and 18 other counties in the Carolinas. A special donation announcement will kick off the program.
In York County, 15 percent of the senior population lives at or below the poverty level, which is 1 percent above the county's overall average. The mobile pantry program provides nutritious foods directly to seniors in need.
