Rock Hill man says wife tried to poison him
A Rock Hill man told police his wife tried to poison him Tuesday, according to a police report.
The report states the man and his friend were having a drink when they noticed that the grapefruit juice tasted funny and started to burn their mouths. One of the men smelled the bottle and said it smelled like rubbing alcohol.
The second man said a new bottle of rubbing alcohol was almost empty. He also said this isn't the first time his wife has tried to hurt him.
The husband told police he and his wife are planning to separate, according to the report. No charges have been filed.
Police: Men attack truck driver, steal beer
Three men stole cases of beer from a Budweiser delivery man as he dropped off the beer at a Rock Hill convenience store Tuesday, a police report states.
According to the report, a man between the ages of 18 and 25 punched the delivery driver in the right ear, grabbed a case of 24 Busch beers and ran away.
When the driver ran after the thief, two other men grabbed cases of beer and ran away, the report states. The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. outside Gee Gee's on Saluda Street.
Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the incident, but the report states they are trying to get video from a camera at the scene.
County Council District 4 town meeting tonight
A town meeting-style forum featuring candidates for York County Council's District 4 is tonight. It starts at 7 p.m. at the Emmett Scott Center, 801 Crawford Road.
Incumbent Roy Blake and fellow Democrats Gwendolyn Conner and William "Bump" Roddey are scheduled to attend. They will face off Tuesday in the primary election.
The winner will oppose Republican Tom Hardin in the November election. Hardin is also scheduled to attend the forum.
The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions.

Ruffin meet-and-greet planned for Saturday
A meet-and-greet for Kenny Ruffin is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday next to Sharon's ball fields.
Ruffin is a Republican candidate for York County Council District 3 opposed by incumbent Joe Cox in the primary election June 10. In 2006, Ruffin unsuccessfully ran for the District 3 seat, which represents Western York County.
