One man was stabbed and three Rock Hill men were charged with assault and battery with intent to kill after a fight early Sunday at an area motel, according to police reports.
Donald Harvey Jr., 51, of Plymouth, N.C., was stabbed with a box cutter in the stomach and was punched in the face between midnight and 3 a.m. Sunday at the Best Way Inn on Riverview Road, according to a Rock Hill Police Department report. Harvey was taken to Piedmont Medical Center; his condition was not known Monday.
Donald Harvey III, 23, of Decatur, Ala., also was taken to Piedmont Medical Center with scrapes and bruises from the attack, the report states.
Police charged Daniel L. Funderburk Sr., 55, Daniel L. Funderburk Jr., 21, and Paul R. Craig Jr., 33, with assault and battery with intent to kill after being taken from the motel Sunday morning.
The men also face charges of lynching and criminal conspiracy. All three suspects were being held on $610,000 bond Monday, according to the York County Sheriff's Office Web site.
Rock Hill Police Lt. Jerry Waldrop called the incident a "drunken brawl."
