The Newtown family that came to visit Winthrop University and basketball coach Pat Kelsey sent this letter of thanks.

"Dear Coach Kelsey, Winthrop men's basketball team, Winthrop University students, staff and alumni, and the entire Rock Hill community,

We would like to thank you all with all of our hearts for your warm welcome and gracious hospitality during our amazing visit to Winthrop last weekend. We were deeply touched by your outpouring of love and support that you shared so openly with our family. It was humbling to hear how many of you had us in your prayers and to meet you face to face. I will carry with me your "hug your neck" affection with me always. I also would like to thank you for honoring all the children and educators along with our son Chase all of whom we all lost on that horrible day.

It is through the grace of God that we have been able move our family forward to triumph over this tragedy. We look forward as a family focusing on the positive and with purpose towards our vision to heal and strengthen children, families and communities. We hope to see you again and grow our new extended family with you in the future through our CMAK Foundation and our Race4Chase initiatives.

Play inspired, play well and win one more for the Big South Championship and we will see you at the NCAA tourney!

With Peace and Love,

Stephen, Rebecca and Brittany Kowalski
