A third Republican is running to represent District 5 on the York County Council, which includes parts of Rock Hill and Fort Mill.

Christi Cox, a lawyer with Hamilton Martens Ballou & Carroll in Rock Hill, filed with the state Election Commission on Monday.

She is a founding member of Hamilton Martens, where she specializes in administrative and commercial litigation. Efforts to reach her for comment were unsuccessful Monday.

Longtime incumbent Republican Curwood Chappell has not yet filed to seek re-election and hasn’t commented on whether he plans to do so. He has until Sunday to file. All other incumbents on the seven-member County Council are seeing re-election.

The two other Republicans who are running for the District 5 seat are Fort Mill building inspector Marty Taylor and Rock Hill medical consultant Bobby Walker.
