Jay White hopped on "Old Betsy II," a one-speed cruiser, on Saturday to re-create his great-grandfather James Spratt White II's almost 700-mile ride from Rock Hill to the 1939 World's Fair in Flushing, N.Y. White's family, friends and supporters gathered at the Giordana Velodrome to see him off on the tour, entitled "75th Year, Still One Gear." Several of White's supporters rode with him to his first stop, the Hardee's in Fort Mill.

White plans to make 15 stops on the journey. The point of the tour is to tell people about the goodness of Rock Hill.
