Summerfest – York’s annual homage to summer – begins at 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown York, with music, children’s activities, a car show, road races, an antiques show, food and craft vendors.
A new attraction this year will a Monster Energy BMX team, which is scheduled to give four 25-minute performances throughout the day.
Children’s activities include robotics demonstrations by local students, a petting zoo, train rides and water ball – in which kids are zipped into a plastic ball and roll around on 24 inches of water.

) – 10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Local dance groups and martial arts teams, Zumba performers, gymnastic teams, drama team and solo acts. 6:30-9:30 p.m.: Pocketful of Strange, a four-piece group playing rhythm & blues, funk, soul and classic rock.
) – 9:30-11 a.m.: John Fitzgerald McGill, solo guitar. Noon-3:30 p.m.: Project Salt, five-piece rhythm and blues and classic rock.
(Victory Lane and North Congress Street
) – 9:30-11 a.m.: Euphonious Ensemble, acoustic eclectic Americana. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Oneppo Brothers acoustic duo, blues and classic rock. 2-4 p.m.: ’flicted, 1980s classic rock.
) – 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Country Showdown, featuring singers competing for cash/prizes and an opportunity to compete in the national talent search.

The band Flash Back will perform beach and Motown hits at the Summerfest kickoff concert from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday in the Whiteside’s Cleaners parking lot.
