A Rock Hill man was reportedly knocked unconsciousness after he was struck in the head during an argument.
Rock Hill Police were called to a home on the 1100 block of Ellen Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and found a 35-year-old man laying on his back on the front porch, unresponsive and bleeding from a gash near his scalp. The victim regained consciousness after the officers flashed him with their flashlights.
He told officers he was speaking to another man who was approximately 35 or 40 years old when they got into an argument and the man struck him in the head with a “mallet-type implement,” according to a police report. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.
A 21-year-old man at the scene corroborated the unconscious man’s story and also complained to medical responders about a pain at the top of his head, although the police report does not indicate he was struck by the mallet. Neither man was able to tell police the assailant’s real name, and a search of the area for the mallet was unsuccessful.
