Bad news, fans of Rock Hill’s Food Truck Fridays: The June 16 monthly meet-up has been canceled due to expected stormy weather.
Organizers were forced to close the event early after forecasters told them that scattered showers and thunderstorms would hit the city from late afternoon through the rest of the weekend.
Leaders with Old Town Rock Hill, which runs the event on each third Friday of the month, said the storms will likely bring lightning, damaging winds, hail and heavy downpours.
Close to 30 food trucks regularly ring the park with plenty of snacks and drinks, while live music plays from bands at Fountain Park.
This will be the first year since the festival began in 2015 that visitors will get to enjoy the evening near a working fountain.
Construction crews reopened the fountain last month. It had been the subject of constant repair work since November 2015, when water pipes became clogged, causing the 50,000-gallon fountain to turn muddy.
Next month’s event will take place on Saturday, July 22, to coincide with the opening ceremony of the upcoming 2017 BMX World Championships.
