School notes: Clover teacher gets Apple honor

Clover High School Environmental Science Teacher Nick LaFave has been selected to join the Apple Distinguished Educator class of 2015. Other education news includes You Be the Chemist winners, a Clover art show, Laura Antinoro’s exceptional child honor and Oakridge students competing in a state robotics event.

Clover center cuts ties with Second Harvest Food Bank

Clover Area Assistance Center leaders voted to terminate relations with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Following issues about picking up food at the Charlotte center, CAAC filed for a grievance hearing. Second Harvest put CAAC on a one-year probation. Rather than meet the terms, CAAC’s board voted to sever ties.
