Charlotte and Dick Jackson, owners of Jackson’s Kitchen in Clover, plan to retire at the end of April and sell the catering and lunch business that has been owned by his family for 58 years. The new owner, Mike Barrett, said he doesn’t plan to change a thing.
York Police have charged with driver which caused a collision that led to the death of one child, and injuries to three other children with reckless driving. The driver was trying to retrieve a GPS unit that had fallen from her windshield when she crossed over the yellow line and a turning lane, striking a northbound vehicle.
After none extensions over more than a year Julia Phillips has filed paperwork claiming prosecutors did not have enough evidence to convict her. State prosecutors will argue against the claim. Phillips is serving life in prison for the 2009 killing of her boyfriend Melvin Roberts.

The victim, Edward Bradham, 20, of York, was shot in the chest late Friday night with a rifle. His brother, Jacob Bradham, 24, told police he was showing Edward the rifle when it “accidentally discharged,” hitting Edward, who died at the scene.
The woman allegedly bought the alcohol for minors as young as 14 and 15 - including her daughter - or gave them the money for the alcohol, police say. The incident was reported when another parent found her daughter intoxicated, police say.
The woman told police her son is a drug user and stole her card to buy gasoline for her son’s dealer. The woman followed the son and confronted the son and the dealer at a gas station before the duo fled.
York County’s hospitality tax advisory group will recommend York County Council approve $1 million over eight years to help pay for the outdoor water park near Crowders Creek Elementary School in Lake Wylie. The water park would be part of an aquatic center built by Clover School District and maintained by the Upper Palmetto YMCA.
