The York Comprehensive High School Cougars first regular season football game against the Lewisville High School Lions has been postponed until Sept. 24 following the on-field death of Lewisville's Brian Colvin Friday night.
York Comprehensive High School athletic director Steve Boyd announced Saturday that the Friday, Aug. 20 regular-season opener with Lewisville has been rescheduled due to the tragic death of Lions running back Brian Colvin.
Colvin collapsed and died Friday night after playing in the Chester County Football Jamboree, officials said. Boyd said he spoke with Lewisville High School AD Rusty Pemberton and it was agreed the game would be rescheduled for September 24 at 7:30 p.m. at York's new stadium. Sept. 24 had been an open date for both teams. "They need time to grieve and to heal," Boyd said of the Lewisville football family. "I know they are devastated by this tragedy.
"It makes you realize how small the game is."
