On Dec. 1, students from York Comprehensive and Clover high schools will travel to York Technical College to prepare for their upcoming semester as full-time college students. The students will tour the campus, pick up books and eat lunch on campus.
This group of students is a part of the new Middle College program, in its second year at Clover High School and first year at York Comprehensive High School. The Western York County Middle College Cohort partnership is between Clover High School and York High School.
It is a progressive educational program that motivates learners, is built on coaching, cohort studying, relationship building and mentoring. The purpose is to reach capable high school students who do not necessarily fit into the mainstream traditional high school population.
Students earn high school and college credit while attending a local higher education partner in small cohorts.
All students in both cohorts will begin four classes in January on the York Tech campus. They will travel by bus together Monday through Thursday each week and participate in joint cohorts on scheduled Fridays.
