Former York Comprehensive High School standout athlete Wayne Johnson was introduced during last week’s Bank of York preseason basketball tournament in the new YCHS gym.
Johnson, who was all-region in football and track at YCHS, enjoyed a banner season playing football at the University of St. Francis in Illinois. Johnson was an All-American for the Fighting Saints of the Mid State Conference.
He led the nation in interceptions with seven. He also had 30 tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles. Johnson had eight pass breakups and a tackle for loss.
Johnson was an all-state selection in track at YCHS, winning the state championship in the 4-by-100 in 2007.
