Filing continues through noon Dec. 13 for candidates for the Clover Town Council seat vacated by Bruce Henderson.
Henderson resigned from the seat after he was elected to the District 2 York County Council seat, representing the Clover and Lake Wylie area, in the Nov. 2 election.
If there is more than one candidate seeking the Town Council seat, the special election will be Tuesday, Feb. 8, said Elections Supervisor Wanda Hemphill. Town Council members in Clover are elected at large.
If only one candidate files for election to the Town Council and no one declares a write-in candidacy, the lone candidate wins the seat, Hemphill said.
If a special election is held, Jan. 7 will be the last day to register in person to vote in the election, and Jan. 8 will be the last day to register to vote by mail.
The filing fee is $45. For details, call the York County elections office at 684-1242.
