A fundraising event for the Robbie Neelands family will be Saturday, Dec. 4 at Ramah Presbyterian Church, 980 Ramah Church Road, York.
The event is sponsored by the churches in the New Zion and Bethany communities.
A breakfast will be served from 6 to 9:30 a.m., with a hot dog lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. A bake and yard sale will be ongoing from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Robbie is 30 years old, and he and his wife, Angie, have two children. Robbie has been hospitalized since Aug. 31, except for nine days in October, when he was home.
Robbie went into cardiac arrest and was put on a ventilator after being taken by ambulance to Piedmont Medical Center and then airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.
He had multi-organ system failure. In addition, his body was severely infected with several types of bacteria growing in his abdomen and colon. He is on a feeding tube and wound vac because his abdomen is still open.
