Clover schools are collecting used shoes of any size and in any condition from now until Monday, Feb. 28.
The shoes will be used for a Disability Advocacy Day event at the State House in Columbia from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2. Family Connection and the S.C. Autism Society are organizing the event, Walk in Our Shoes.
Volunteers are going try to put 10,000 pairs of shoes on the steps of the State House so politicians have to walk over the shoes to get into work, as a visual of all the families that are going to be affected by state budget cuts.
The budget cuts will affect all children and adults in South Carolina who currently receive services. The shoes that are collected that are in good condition will be donated to needy families.Boxes for collection are located at each of the Clover schools’ main offices.
