The Cougar boys golf team fired a season’s best 319 team score at Monday’s Upper State Golf Qualifier Tournament at Fort Mill Golf Course.
The fifth-place finish sends the Cougars to the Quail Creek Golf Course on the Coastal Carolina University campus in Conway for the 2012 State 3A Golf Tournament Monday and Tuesday.
The Cougar linksmen were led by Luke Lancaster’s 36-40-76 score, followed closely by senior Daley Ballard’s 80, freshman Austin Hall’s 81, junior Stroud Baker’s clutch 82 and junior Logan Aggeles’ 86.
The team effort saw the 319 score fall just seven shots short of Greenville’s tournament-winning 312 score.
Along with the Cougars, Region 4-AAA members Fort Mill, Nation Ford and South Pointe also qualified for the state tourna ment. Union County’s Jordan Crumpton shot one over par 73 to earn medalist honors.
