Lunch price up
CLOVER -- Expecting a 10-15 percent increase in food costs next year, the Clover School Board last week approved a 10-cent increase on the price of student lunches. The cost of a student lunch will increase beginning next year from $1.50 to $1.60.
The cost of lunches is not a money-making aid to the school district, said Ken Love, business manager for the district, but generally covers the cost of food and kitchen maintenance. This past school year, 702,000 lunches were served. About 70 percent of those lunches were fully paid, while others were reduced or free. The price of adult lunches should not change.
