CHS JV baseball team defeats York
Justin Adams pitched six strong innings to earn the win. The Blue Eagles finished the season with a 15-2 record, winning their last 12 games in a row.
YCHS boys’ track places fourth in county meet
Matt Ransom finished second in the 400 meters while Markell Castle placed second in the long jump and third in the triple jump. Ethan Whitesides placed third in the shot put.
Kyron Schrouder and Shuler Littleton took home gold medals in the triple jump and discus.
York JV boys’ soccer defeats Rock Hill, Lancaster
The Cougars defeated Northwestern in penalty kicks.
Myles Prosser rejected two penalty kicks and scored a penalty kick during the shootout. Carson Wynn knocked home the game-winning penalty kick.
“We have made our presence known in a very competitive region,” said coach Jason Roberts. “Three of our losses came against powerhouse teams Northwestern and Fort Mill. The boys looked strong, but lost each game 1-0 in heartbreaking fashion.”
Roberts noted that Prosser, Mason Lane, Christian Ariza, Sean Walsh and Zack Beardsley have formed a strong midfield.
Defensively, the Cougars are led by Wynn, Juan Angeles, James Good, Anthony Ivey and Daniel Shirley.
CHS track teams compete in York County meet
The boys finished in sixth place and the girls placed fifth, beating York.
“I am very proud of Emily Sparrow, who set school records in the mile and two-mile races,” said coach Jeremy Smith.
The following boys’ track participants scored points: 4x800 relay team, 4x100, 4x400; Keyshawn Pressley, first, 100 meters; Jon Bruney, Tenchi Her, Trey Stevens, R. J. Moore.
Scoring for the girls’ team were: 4x800 relay team, 4x100, 4x400; Juhee Bhatt, Joelle Keffer.
York to host Thursday region track meet
The region meet determines upper state qualifiers for next week’s competition.
York and Clover are the local teams competing for upstate recognition.

York softball registration underway
The league is open to men’s and co-ed teams. The deadline to register is Friday, May 16 and the registration fee is $250.
Teams that register by May 2, will receive $50 off the fee. Teams may register from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays at the York Recreation Center, 21 White Rose Lane. For details, call the center at 803-684-3742.
