Local Ag group plans for Memorial 5K Run/Walk
YORK The Sara Ann Comer Run for Agriculture, to benefit a scholarship in the name of the late Clemson University student, will be 8 a.m. Saturday, June 21.
The event is hosted by York’s Inman Farms and is being held in conjunction with the Ag-Plus Art Tour of York County.
Comer died in a vehicle accident in September 2013.
She was a senior majoring in agricultural education who wanted to become an agriculture teacher. She had twice been named a finalist for the S.C. Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Excellence in Agriculture Award.
Comer did her best to ensure that everyone around her understood the importance agriculture played in their daily lives.
After months of pondering a fitting tribute, the York County Young Farmers and Ranchers have established a memorial scholarship in her name.
