Farm Bureau awards 2 scholarships
Each recipient will receive $1,000.
The recipients are John Wesley Edmunds III, son of Mary and Wesley Edmunds of Clover, and Hayley Elizabeth Boyd, daughter of Christie and Roy H Boyd III of Rock Hill.
Edmunds is entering his sophomore year at Clemson University, majoring in biological sciences. Boyd is entering her sophomore year at Clemson University, majoring in pre-veterinary science.
The scholarships are awarded to residents of York County based on character, demonstrated leadership abilities and dedication to agriculture or a related field, after completing his or her first semester at a four-year school.
Group awards $1,000 scholarship
Macinnis will attend Clemson University in fall. She will major in biology with the goal of becoming a transplant surgeon. She is the daughter of Marianne and Mark Macinnis of York.
P.E.O. was established in 1869 and has evolved into one of the oldest nonsectarian, community-based organizations, with nearly 6,000 chapters in each state, the District of Columbia and six Canadian provinces.
Church foundation gives $4,000 in scholarships
Recipients are Sydney Morgan Wood, Derek Moore, Hannah Mace and Mary Elizabeth Trainer.
The scholarships were presented by George Gessner, scholarship committee member for Clover High School.
Students were chosen after interviews by members of the foundation scholarship committee. Awards are given to local students regardless of their church membership and are open to students from public and private schools as well as those who are home-schooled.
