The York Soil and Water Conservation District and York County Farm Bureau honored two at its 2014 Partners in Conservation & Agriculture Legislative Dinner Dec. 11.
Evelyn Edmunds of Circle E Farm in Clover was given the Champion of Conservation Award, sponsored by the conservation district. The award recognizes a local farmer who has been a leader in conservation and agriculture.
Katie Knight, a kindergarten teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in York, received the Conservation Teacher of the Year Award, sponsored by the conservation district and York County T.Y.L.E.R. program. It is presented to an educator who has worked to enhance environmental and conservation education.
The dinner was attended by state Sen. Wes Hays and Reps. Gary Simrill, Ralph Norman, Steve Moss and Dennis Moss as well as members and staff of the Farm Bureau and York Conservation District.
