Clover students will play a part in naming their new schools.
Assistant Superintendent Ron Wright held a naming contest last week with the students who will attend the new elementary and middle school next fall. Students offered a variety of suggestions, which will be tallied up this week and presented to the school board at its Oct. 20 meeting.
The board is expected to decide on a name then, Wright said.
The district won't release any of the suggestions before they go to the board's review, but Wright said they'll have plenty to choose from.
Never miss a local story.
If the board chooses a name submitted by a student, that child will win a $50 savings bond and $25 VISA gift card, Wright said. If multiple students submit the same name that's picked by the board, the winner will be decided by a random drawing.
"It was a fun contest," said Wright, admitting some of the proposals were a little off the cuff. "You know, kids will be kids. It's been interesting."
