Boater Poker Run Saturday on Lake Wylie
LAKE WYLE In conjunction with the Lake Wylie Rotary Club’s Lake Wylie Luau on Saturday, Sept. 7, there will be a Boater Poker Run.
Players receive five playing cards at five stops to make a poker hand, starting at registration from 1 to 2 p.m. at Red Fez Club Pavilion. From there, boaters will pick up cards at Commodore Yacht Club, Lake Wylie Marina and north Sandbar before finishing by 5:30 p.m. at Red Fez Club.
Cost is $10 per hand with proceeds going to local Rotary charities. Players can purchase more than one hand, and you do not have to boat to participate.

Join 4-H Anglers Club Saturday
YORK The Clemson Extension Service York County will offer a 4-H Anglers Club and is open to new members.

LAKE WYLIE US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 26-02 offers About Boating Safely Course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every third Saturday, except December.

Hunting, Fishing Day Sept. 21
The World of Energy, located next to the Oconee Nuclear Station on Lake Keowee off Highway 130 about five miles north of Seneca, will host the seventh annual National Hunting and Fishing Day, “Free Outdoor Family Adventure,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21.
Learn to kayak, practice shooting bows and arrows, enjoy lake fishing and test your fly-tying skills, in addition to other hands-on activities.
All activities and parking are free; gear will be provided. A shuttle service will be provided from the marked parking area off S.C. 130. Bring picnic lunch or purchase food from a vendor.

Wakeboard Nationals Sept. 27-29
ROCK HILL The 15th USA Wakeboard Nationals will be held Sept. 27-29 on Lake Wylie at Ebenezer Park.
A $15,000 cash-prize purse is being offered for the Pro Men and Pro Women divisions. The USA Wakeboard Nationals is open to men and women of all ages and all levels of riding. The Nationals are made up of 11 divisions, including Pro Men, Pro Women and Wakeskate.
USA Wakeboard will hold Nationals with assistance from the Rock Hill/ York County CVB and the Carolina Show Ski team, with sanctioning provided by USA Water Ski. A USA Water Ski membership is required for all events. Membership and registration information available at usawaterski.org.

LAKE WYLIE The 12th annual Lake Wylie Riversweep, organized by the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation, Lake Wylie Covekeepers and Lake Wylie Marine Commission, will be held Oct. 5.

Benefit fishing tourney Oct. 19
LAKE WYLIE A benefit fishing tournament will be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 19 at Buster Boyd Access Area.
Proceeds will help with medical expenses for 1-year-old Bo Brown’s family. Bo was diagnosed July 2 with Encephalitis and a traumatic brain injury. He is the nephew of Jeff Brown of Lake Wylie.
Cost is $100 per boat. Sign-ups run 5-6:45 a.m. Cash payout awarded to first four top finishers with $1,000 for first place.
Raffle tickets will be sold for additional prizes; each participant receives one ticket.
The event is hosted by Lake Wylie Bait & Tackle, and sponsored by Pleasant Hill Presbyterian/Relevant Church, Lake Wylie Tax and Sterling Source Inc.

Renew S.C. hunting, fishing license
South Carolina hunting and fishing license sales for 2013-2014 are available in person at any of the four regional S.C. Department of Natural Resources offices or by visiting one of the 500 license vendors across the state. Licenses also are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 866-714-3611 or by visiting dnr.sc.gov.
Residents and nonresidents 16 and older must purchase the required licenses to hunt and fish in South Carolina. Anyone born after June 30, 1979, must have successfully completed a hunter education course to obtain a hunting license.
Hunting license applicants who do not have a hunter education certification may use a one-time exemption and apply for an annual Apprentice Hunting License.
LAKE WYLIE The Covekeepers, volunteers who work with Catawba Riverkeepers, meet the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at T-Bones on the Lake.
