FORT MILL -- The Fort Mill High School Choral Boosters are hosting a beach music party from 7 to 11 p.m. Jan. 9 at the newly restored Clebourne House in downtown Fort Mill featuring the Fantastic Shakers, the South's finest show band.
There also will be a silent auction.
Both the party and silent auction are fundraisers for the FMHS spring production of the Broadway show "Peter Pan" to be held March 26-31.
"Peter Pan" costs more than many productions because mandatory professional riggers are needed to have Peter Pan fly.
Choral Director Michael Dove plans to include elementary, middle and high school students in "Peter Pan" activities to make the event communitywide. In addition to providing cast members performance opportunities and the community a cultural event, Dove says, "such an event will show the younger children a look at the arts and how magical attending such an event can be."
The Choral Boosters are planning writing and coloring events to get the younger children involved in the production through party packages at the weekend performances that include table setup, decorations, meeting the main cast, pictures with the cast and up-front seating. In addition to the beach party fundraiser, another chorus fundraiser is the new FMHS brick legacy patio that upgrades the auditorium entrance and highlights the name of a loved one on an engraved brick.
