• On Sept. 10, the eighth grade Oakridge Middle School football team started off the season with a loss to York, 27-0. The defense gave up one touchdown per quarter, and two of those scores were due to a missed tackle followed by a long run.

The Golden Eagle defense had two long drives. Dalton Eddington had several tackles and one interception. Heze Massey and Blake Keffer each broke up a few deep passes. Antonio Mitchell had a handful of tackles, and Drew Brightman, Hunter Holland and Dalyn Garrett had a few tackles of their own, while also giving the opposing quarterback a lot of pressure.
Offensively, the team struggled. The Cougars’ front seven were smaller than Oakridge players, but were always able to get a defensive stop. Heze Massey had two catches for 21 yards, both thrown by Blake Keffer. Andres Dalton ran hard on the night for the Golden Eagles.

The defense forced York to turn the ball over on downs several times. Hayden got his score on a stripped take away running for 40-yard touchdown.
• On Sept. 11, the eighth grade volleyball team fell short to Springfield, losing the first set 25-27 and the second set 19-25.Adrienne Erhnschwender

• On Sept. 11, the seventh grade volleyball team defeated Springfield Middle. After losing the first set 25-10, the girls won the last two 25-22 and 15-8.Brooklyn Gunn
