FORT MILL Continuum Capital Advisory is hosting in-depth retirement planning workshops 6-9 p.m. Oct. 7 and 14, and Oct. 9 and 16, in The Spratt Building, 215 Main St.
Topics include creating retirement; assessing retirement costs; evaluating income sources; investing for the future; protecting your health and wealth; receiving funds from retirement plans; and managing estate distributions.

Entrepreneur Summit Oct. 10 in Belmont
BELMONT Entrepreneurs and business owners will converge in Gaston County at the third annual Entrepreneur Summit 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 10 at Kimbrell Campus of Gaston College.
Best-selling author and professional trainer Tim Connor will deliver a keynote luncheon presentation on “Keeping Your Sales Process Relevant.”
Gaston County’s Julie Busha, who appeared on the ABC hit TV show “Shark Tank,” will present her marketing of a unique slaw-salsa hybrid condiment she created called Slawsa. In just two years, she has placed Slawsa in the relish aisles of more than 5,200 stores in the United States and Canada, and expects to be distributed coast-to-coast in 2015.
Leading off the summit and serving as host will be Jesse Cole, founder of Team Cole and Associates and managing partner of the Gastonia Grizzlies baseball team. He recently was named Executive of the Year by his league.

Launch Pad accepting applications
BELMONT The Gaston Regional and Montcross Area chambers announce the second annual Entrepreneurial Challenge – Launch Pad 2.0, a business plan competition designed to encourage, reward and support entrepreneurship and create jobs in Gaston County.
Contestants will have the opportunity to compete for grants of $12,500 (first), $7,500 (second), $3,500 (third) and a Best Pitch bonus of $1,000 based upon the audience vote during the live, final round.
Applications will be accepted from small business owners and entrepreneurs who have a desire to develop existing business or to start a new business in Gaston County.
Launch Pad participants will be judged on a point system based on the elements of a written business plan and an oral presentation of their concept. The judging panel will be made up of distinguished entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Buy local with mobile app
ROCK HILL The York County Regional Chamber of Commerce announces a new buy-local partnership with Thanx Inc. to motivate people to support local businesses.
Thanx is a mobile application that connects businesses to customers and allows them to reward those customers with each return visit. Using the app, customers can flip through a list of all participating local merchants and track their progress toward available rewards. As new merchants join, customers will be alerted through their mobile device.
Each participating business will have access to a private merchant analytics dashboard through Thanx, which reveals insights and data on that individual business. York County retailers, restaurants and service providers can get started with Thanx by calling 803-324-7500.

ROCK HILL The Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau has launched its first mobile app: Visit York County, SC. It is available in the Apple Store for iPhone users and on Google Play for Android users.
Visit York County, SC is an eat, stay, and play app and was created to help visitors and residents find restaurants, places to stay, and things to see and do.
