Five York County firms are again listed on the Grant Thornton LLP’s 30th annual ranking of the state’s top 100 privately-held firms.
Comporium remained 11th on the list. Other firms from the county are WDS of Lake Wylie, a custom warehouse distributor, 29th; Springs Creative of Rock Hill, 43rd; AME of Fort Mill, an industrial contractor that rents equipment such as cranes, 65th and Wing Fan LP of Rock Hill, which makes modular axial impellers, 100th.
The list, compiled in cooperation with the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, includes companies that voluntarily submit their net revenues for the year. To qualify, companies must be privately held, headquartered in South Carolina and cannot be a subsidiary of another company, according to Grant Thornton LLP.
Another York County company, 3D Systems of Rock Hill was named one of America’s Best Small Companies for 2014, according to a Forbes ranking. Forbes ranked the Rock Hill-based company 43rd on a list of 100 top companies.

is expanding its Union County textile manufacturing facility. The $5 million investment is expected to create 35 new jobs.
Standard Textile, 100 Highpoint Drive, is adding 39,000 square feet that will allow it to increase terry towel finishing capabilities. The expanded plant will also facilitate new partnerships and opportunities in Standard Textile’s yarn spinning, yarn preparation, and weaving processes.
