Lake Wylie's YMCA Camp Thunderbird will host a friendly competition Disc Golf Tournament March 28 to introduce people to the sport. The camp's disc golf course is usually only open to paying camp participants. However, this tournament is open to the community. Entry fee is a $10 donation for the camp scholarship campaign to help children go to camp. There will be three competitions: longest drive, hole-in-one contest, and best match play. Local businesses have donated fun prizes. "Disc golf is a great sport that anyone can enjoy," said David Hart, program coordinator for YMCA Camp Thunderbird Environmental Education Center via e-mail. "There are lots of courses around the Charlotte/Rock hill area and most are all free to play. All you need is a Frisbee golf disc and you are set." Above, Andrew Rominger, camp instructor, plays disc golf. For more information, call 704-716-4136. Look for more about disc golf and the tournament in the Lake Wylie Pilot.
