The Nation Ford Falcons gained confidence with a strong win against York, but lost steam by the end of the week when they were defeated by Clover.
"I'm looking forward to seeing if we can put together a winning streak to get back to .500 in the region," said head coach Matt Rohring.
The Falcons defeated York by a final score of 5-2, which brought its record to 2-3 in Region III and 2-4 overall.
In singles action, Madison Ott beat Chris Suggs 6-3, 6-2. Michael Little lost to Tyler Sloan 6-1,6-1. Danny Randar beat Mitesh Patel 6-3, 6-0, Alex McLelland beat Rich Carver 6-1, 6-2, Paul Hoberek beat Jensen Fisk 6-1, 6-1. First in doubles were Ott/McLelland, who lost to Suggs/Sloan 8-2, fellow doubles team Tyler Morris and Brandon McGlohon were able to defeat Joe Degraw and Brandon Hedrich 6-1, 6-0.
"This match showed me how we are capable of playing when we are focused and hopefully it gives us more confidence," Rohring said.
Later in the week, the Falcons' confidence was shattered when they were defeated by rival Clover by a final score of 6-1.
The team's only win came in the second doubles with Morris and McGlohon defeating Max Ames and Nathan Hoeben 6-2, 6-1 They were the team's players of the week.
"They are playing well together and communicating like a very experienced doubles team, even though they are really only learning the art of doubles play this season," Rohring said.
The team will face off with two home matches this week against Lancaster and South Pointe. They will also compete in a non-conference match away at Weddington Friday.
