The Chicago White Sox recently purchased the contract of Charlotte outfielder Dewayne Wise.
Wise was hitting .338 for the Knights, which was the second highest batting average in the International League. Wise has appeared in just six games for the White Sox since being called up, but has yet to get a hit.
The Knights recently received Danny Richar as part of his rehab assignment from Chicago.
Richar had not played at all this season while recovering from a rib injury. Richar appeared in 32 games for Charlotte last season, hitting .346 before being called up to Chicago.
In his first 10 games the season with the Knights, Richar is hitting .184 with one home run and three RBIs.
The White Sox also signed free agent pitcher Scott Sauerbeck to a minor league contract and assigned him to Charlotte. Sauerbeck played in four games with Louisville earlier this season going 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA.
In 2007, Sauerbeck went 3-1 in 46 games for three different teams. He begin the season in the Pacific Coast League with Triple-A Round Rock, pitching in 18 games. He was released by them and picked up by Class A Dunedin, where he pitched in five relief appearances, going 1-0. He was then promoted to Syracuse of the International League where he appeared in 23 games going 1-1.
The Knights also picked up second baseman and Newberry native Gookie Dawkins recently.
A 1997 graduate of Newberry, Dawkins has played for three teams this season already. Starting the season off in Lehigh Valley, he hit .214 in just six games before being sent to the Reading of the Eastern League. He was there just 19 games before getting released and picked up by the Knights. He hit .224 in 19 games for Reading.
Last year, Dawkins spent parts of the 2007 season with Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League playing in 81 games and hitting .250 with four home runs and 32 RBIs. He finished the season with Ottawa of the International League, where he hit .274 in 31 games.
