With the help of 13 hits and three Rock Hill errors, the Fort Mill American Legion Post 43 team won Monday, 15-5.
Led by the bats of Coker College's Shawn Thomas, who went 3-4 with five RBIs, as well as Indian Land's Alex Matzeit and newly acquired Francis Marion University player Chris Honeycutt, who both went 2-3 with an RBI each, Fort Mill improved to 4-2.
Montreat College pitcher David Flanagan got the win for Post 43 going 5 2/3 innings and giving up five runs on just four hits.
Rock Hill Post 34 went up early 1-0, but Fort Mill came back to tie the game at 1-1 after the first inning on a RBI single by Matzeit, which scored Fort Mill High's Jonathan Romano.
Post 43 added two runs in the third inning on two hits with Thomas hitting a two-run single scoring Honeycutt and Alex Bebeau.
In the fourth, Post 43 added four runs on three hits by Honeycutt, Thomas and Matzeit. But Fort Mill's big inning came in the fifth as they scored eight runs on five hits and three Rock Hill errors.
Post 43 batted around in the inning with catcher Michael Baker leading off with a single, followed by a double from Fort Mill High's Kyle Hartley. Romano drove in Baker on a sacrifice, and Honeycutt singled, followed by Piedmont College's Frank Mitlin.
Thomas knocked in another run and Baker cleared the bases as he scored from after reaching on an error, and never stopped running as Rock Hill made two costly errors which allowed four runs to score to make the score 15-1.
